Amelia Maddox

Architectural Assistant

Amelia joined Cullinan Studio in November 2025, having completed her master’s degree in Sustainable Architecture at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales, where her work focused on prioritising material honesty and long-term environmental resilience.

Amelia is particularly interested in how architecture can support both ecological and social systems, through designing spaces that respond carefully to their context while deepening public understanding of natural processes. Her thesis project explored coastal regeneration through the integration of seaweed cultivation and adaptive reuse, using architecture as an educational tool for environmental stewardship and climate awareness.

An interest in regenerative materials and nature-based technologies has led Amelia to hands-on experience hosting earth-building workshops alongside her design work, as well as innovative material research, resulting in the creation of Seacrete; a bio-based concrete alternative using seaweed and waste mussel shells, exploring low-carbon construction methods rooted in local ecologies.

Outside of work, Amelia enjoys going to concerts and staying active, often drawn back to the Welsh coast and mountains!
