Stories of Islington: Memories, Objects and Community Voices

We are partnering with Finsbury Library and Islington Council as part of the London Festival of Architecture 2026 to host an interactive community event exploring how people shape the places where they live and work.

Taking place on Thursday 18 June, the event responds to this year's festival theme, Belonging, by bringing together local stories, archive material, architectural drawings and personal memories to create a collective portrait of Islington.

Visitors will be invited to explore a display of objects, images and drawings that reveal how the borough's spaces and places have evolved over time. Alongside material from Finsbury Library's local history collections, we will share drawings and artefacts from projects developed during more than three decades of practicing architecture in Islington.

The event will include a collaborative collage activity, encouraging participants to contribute their own memories, observations and aspirations for the future of the area. The completed artwork will remain on display at Finsbury Library throughout the Festival.

Whether attending as part of the London Festival of Architecture or simply dropping in from the local community, visitors will have the opportunity to discover new stories about Islington, connect with neighbours and learn more about the borough's rich local history.
